If you don’t identify your weaknesses, someone else will do it, play with your emotions and make you even weaker!
Self-awareness is having a clear perception of your personality, including strengths, weaknesses, thoughts, beliefs, motivation, and emotions.
According to Darwinian evolutionary theory, ‘Survival of the fittest’ is the biological concept of fitness. Everyone has their own way of maintaining fitness. Some of them are old, some of them are new. But if you ask me, my way of maintaining fitness lies in Ancient Indian science of exercise & healing and we call it YOGA. Yoga is also known as one of the oldest holistic health care systems. YOGA means union which brings you to the ultimate reality. From the physical body, yoga moves on to the mental and emotional levels. Many people suffer from phobias and neuroses as a result of the stresses and interactions of everyday living. Yoga cannot provide a cure for life, but it does present a proven method for coping with it.
Give sometime to yourself. Self-awareness is the ability to see yourself clearly.
At first, I started Yoga because I really wanted to just contort my body in all angles. But, as I developed a practice, I noticed shifts inside that I could never have imagined. I was starting to feel again, see things in new perspectives and actually felt happy getting out of bed or the house.
I still have days where my sufferings surfaces. Where I feel nothing but darkness, hopelessness, and want to revert back to my past. But I don’t. I know even in this moment all I need to do is get on my mat, meditate and then flow.
I was struggling at work, constantly terrified of getting sick, getting fired, being turned away by my loved ones. I had terrible insomnia. I felt broken. I wondered how it would be possible for me to live a healthy life. I could spend all the time in the world trying to heal my wounds, only to find out there were more to work on. I felt like a failure: what if all the abilities I was blessed with died in vain because I couldn’t express them fully?
My yoga journey has started a while ago. I practiced and I liked to breath. And my body started feeling well. So my diet changed. I started to teach yoga. But I was being healed through my deep aspirations and disciplined practice. And as this happened, my life was changing. The practice of yoga helps me to work through my own daily mental and physical experiences.
Yoga’s positive benefits on mental health have made it an important practice tool. Yoga also improves the mood, behavior, and mindfulness. Clearly, mind and body practices, like yoga, meditation, deep breathing and prayer help to reduce stress and improves stress-related nervous system imbalances. Yoga practice changes the firing patterns of the nerves and chemical makeup of the body’s fluids and blood gases that activates a relaxation response. Relaxing yourself deeply into a yoga pose through deep breathing lowers the brain’s response to threat. This slows down the rate of nerve firing and further relaxes your brain, heart, and muscles. Yoga postures work on all systems of the body. Besides strengthening and elongating muscles, yoga postures tone up internal organs, and spine nerves.
You have to be honest and maintain the integrity. Then only you will be able to concentrate.
Physical and mental cleansing and strengthening is one of yoga’s most important achievements. Sometimes you are inspired. You feel very well, very one-pointed, but it does not happen everyday. Don’t worry about the mind. Ignore it. Practice Yoga.
